Mitch and Amy by Beverly Cleary
Mitch and Amy is a book for young readers, yet is very interesting indeed. I've read this ten-chapter book only a few times since I got it (I can't find anything in that overflowing thing I call a bookshelf!), and I still find that I want to know more.
What the Book's All About
Mitch and Amy are opposite nine-year-old twins (Mitch likes math and Amy likes reading, etc.) who squabble over almost anything, from what to watch on the TV to who started what - except dealing with the school bully of course. When the bully- Alan Hibbler- starts to pick on Mitch, Amy can't take it, and when the opposite happens, Mitch picks a fight with Alan. Who wins? Will Amy finally learn her times-tables? Will Mitchell ever learn to read?
Amy
- Great at reading
- Can't memorize times-tables
- Girl Scout
- Messy room/ "mouse nest" as she calls it
- Likes to play pretend
Mitchell
- Rides skateboards
- Likes to be outside
- Struggles reading
- Builds stuff
Great overview!
